大专生可通过转学分的形式申请直升美国本科，这种途径对学生的在校成绩、托福/雅思成绩要求较高，建议大专三年平均成绩要达到80分，托福达到80分左右。美国大学会根据学生在大专学习期间修得的学分、课程质量、与大学专业的匹配度等因素，来判定学生能转多少学分，免修哪些课程。在经过美国校方的认证而免修部分课程后，通常学生在美国再读1年或者1年半的课程，就能最终拿到美国大学的本科学位。
如果专科学生语言成绩未达要求，也可通过双录取的方式申请本科。进入美国的大学后先学语言，语言考试通过后，再学习专业课程。
